Formed in early 2014 and comprised of current and ex-ANU jazz music students, the 88’s are a jazz ensemble featuring the finest young jazz improvisers that Canberra has to offer. Experimenting with various jazz styles, they are recognized as one of the most cohesive young ensembles in the Canberra community, defined by their outstanding use of melody and rhythm to develop improvised solos. Performing a range of innovative compositions, their performances are arranged with a refreshing touch, while paying homage to the great jazz styles of the past.
Each characterised by their own distinctive sounds and methods towards jazz improvisation, the band consists of:
