Tahlia Makunde is currently undertaking a Bachelor of Music in Jazz voice at the ANU School of Music. She has been performing and teaching in and around Canberra for a number of years, with recent performances including the multi cultural festival and the Summer Sounds festival. Tahlia’s sound, having been heavily influenced by artists such as Lalah Hathaway, Erykah Badu, and Esperanza Spalding can best be described as Jazz neo-soul fusion. In this performance Tahlia aims to explore the possibilities for combinations of both styles.
Tahlia will be joined by Caitlin Magee, who is also a voice student at the ANU School of Music and recently performed for the Governor General. Tahlia and Caitlin will be accompanied by Hayden Fritzlaff (Drums), Robbie Mann (Keys), Jack Schwenke (Bass), and Edward Plowman (Saxophone); all of whom have come together through the School of Music. The ensemble has performed together several times throughout the year in various settings and always enjoys the opportunity to play with a large ensemble.
