5th Avenue – 8th Feb

Back in 2013, five likeminded Jazz students of the ANU School of Music united their musical talents to become the lively quintet that is 5^th Avenue. The jazz band has played at several different events and venues around Canberra, as well as being a dance band for swing dancers at Jumptown Swing. The band is fronted by Canberra vocalist Catherine Proctor, with Kate Terry on clarinet, saxophone and vocal harmonies, Alex Unikowski on Keys, Jack Schwenke on double bass and Jamal Salem on drums. 5^th Avenue mixes things up by performing pieces of everything that you want to hear, be it swing, gypsy, bossa or blues. The band is also known for taking their favourite pop songs and giving them a dash of jazz styling for taste. 5^th Avenue invites you out for some great entertainment and toe-tapping tunes to get you through the week. This is the band’s third time back at Hippo Co and they are excited to be back playing at their favourite venue.
